Review Of The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari: A Book That Worth Your Time

Some books are to be tasted, others are to be chewed, while some are to be swallowed. And, The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari, is a book that must be swallowed. Today I am going to review The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari, the book which transformed the lives of millions.

At first, I thought it was some ordinary self-help book but when I read the first few pages, I found out that it wasn't any typical kinda book. It needs to be digested slowly. The wisdom that Robin Sharma has shared with us is not just theoretical but practical and has been followed by the Sages of Sivana for thousands of years. If you have not read the book, I would recommend you to please read it even if you aren't a non-fiction lover.

Review of The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari

If you know Robin Sharma, then you must be aware of the fact that The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari is his first self-published book. (I know this because I have read his other books like Who Will Cry When You Die and Everyday Hero Manifesto. There he shared how he faced rejection by publishing companies).

I am so glad that he self-published this one and gave us this wonderful book. I think he was being guided by his calling or purpose you can say. A famous quote goes, when you truly want something, the whole universe conspires to make it happen. But I believe it to be true only when you know your purpose.

The Secret of Happiness

Do you know what’s the secret to happiness? No, right! Neither did I. But after reading The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari, I can say that I know what’s the secret to happiness. It’s finding the work that you love doing, which does not feel like work but more like play. In the famous book The Prophet, writer Khalil Gibran said the same.

If you have not found the thing that is made for you or you love doing it, then it’s worth a try. It’s like Ikigai. The whole concept of the book Ikigai is based on this idea only. But if you think there is no work made for you or you hate doing anything. Then, my friend, you are in big trouble or misguidance.

The Sages of Sivana whose legacy goes back thousands of years said that there is at least one quality in every human that makes a person different from the rest of the people. Maybe, the profession you think is a curse for you, is actually a blessing for another one. Finding the thing you love doing is the secret to happiness. And I got to learn one more thing, which is happiness is not destiny but a journey.

The Transformation of Robin Sharma from a Lawyer to a Writer

Every line of the book is astonishing. If I am not wrong, there are three stories given in the book. They are so perfect and heartwarming that I can not tell. You know when you read lots of books from different genres, you will start connecting dots between them. This is a very useful tool in the long run.

Being a huge fan of Robin Sharma, I loved this book so much that I go on writing the good things about the book for a day. I read The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari after reading Who Will Cry When You Die and Everyday Hero Manifesto. And I am astonished by the life of Robin Sharma.

In The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari, Robin Sharma is a lawyer, who listens to the wisdom of another lawyer, Julian. At first, Julian was a recognized lawyer and a millionaire. Because of his workaholism nature, he got a heart attack. The doctor advised him to either leave his profession or die. He sold everything he owned (this includes his Ferrari as well) and went to take wisdom from the Sages of Sivana.

After leaving with them for a couple of months, he returned and gave his wisdom to John (Robin Sharma). After listening to all the practical and theoretical things he got ready to devote some time to things that will prove beneficial in long run and actually important but he resisted leaving his law work. But you see, he is not a lawyer now. A perfect example of someone who went under physical, mental, and spiritual transformation after applying the techniques mentioned in the book. You will want to read the book, again and again, just give it a go.
